TRUFFLE FAIR

An annual festival dedicated to the world’s most prized mushroom, traditionally held on the last two Sundays of October.


Moncalvo’s main square transforms into a large market where white truffles take center stage, accompanied by typical Monferrato specialties and more.


The local Pro Loco association and area restaurants will delight you with traditional dishes that best highlight the unique qualities of the truffle.

FAT OX FAIR (BUE GRASSO)

His Majesty the Fat Ox of Moncalvo is an ancient event held every year in December.
The town’s main square comes alive with a traditional livestock fair — a centuries-old celebration that for nearly 400 years has honored the “Fassoni” (hefty young bulls with a distinctive hump), steers, and full-grown fattened oxen, the famous “white giants” weighing over 1,000 kilograms.

These prized animals parade through the square and are judged by a panel of breeders and veterinarians.

The event also involves local shopkeepers and features a variety of side initiatives, making it a true food and wine celebration that culminates in the traditional Sagra del Bollito — the classic boiled meat festival.

MONFERRATO EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL FESTIVAL 

The first edition of the event dedicated to the OLIO EXTRAVERGINE DI OLIVA DEL MONFERRATO was held in April 2025, with the official proclamation of MONCALVO as a CITTÀ DELL’OLIO. The initiative was born from the desire to celebrate a Monferrato rarity — the result of passion and foresight by a few local producers who committed to reviving a product that had nearly disappeared. The OLIO EXTRAVERGINE DI OLIVA DEL MONFERRATO thus becomes an ambassador of local excellence, offering remarkable quality and value.

The city of MONCALVO therefore becomes the expression of a shared commitment to promoting a new olive oil culture, rooted in the food and wine traditions of Monferrato, and a renewed destination for tourism and discovery.

The Pro Loco associations of the municipalities of Monferrato gather in Moncalvo’s main square to offer some of the oldest traditional dishes of Monferrato, paired with the region’s finest wines, in the presence of producers and members of the BOTTEGA DEL VINO.

The RASSEGNA DELLE CUCINE MONFERRINE, now reaching its 40th edition in 2025, brings together food and wine stands and live entertainment, all set against the charming and historic backdrop of Moncalvo.
